A very unique, calming and beautiful stay in what can be crazy (but wonderful) Osaka. From the moment you walk through the noren, everything feels calm and relaxing - the design of the space has been very thoughtful and well executed. Even to the point that I normally dislike incense, but the smell when you walk in is lovely (maybe all my friends had nasty incense over the years!). The rooms are really lovely - I'm not quite sure what a traditional Japanese room would like like, but in my Australian mind I like to think it is like this including (what I would define as) the slightly raised futon (not going to claim accuracy for my terminology!!). The room size is also excellent - one of the larger in Japan that I've had - not huge but just that wee bit more. I love the pyjama thing in Japanese hotels - plus they had 'toe socks' the traditional socks with the split after the big toe. And of course, staff were amazing - kind and helpful at every interaction. I would happily stay here again - a beautiful space, and great value for money.

This was a unique experience. Since it is a buddhist hotel, you can enjoy a session of guided meditation right with the master from near by temple. You can also try your hand at copying the heart sutra and rewriting the characters using brush and ink. The rooms have an option for a pleasant and calming music. The staff were simply amazing. They were extremely friendly and kind, ready to help with whatever you needed. Breakfast was great, tho it might not be for everyone, as it is exclusively vegetarian dishes due to the buddhist belief of not eating meat or fish. But I can only praise the breakfast and the staff preparing it, they were probably the kindest people I met so far in Japan. Overall a great experience, I would be honored to stay at this place again some time in the future.

Minami was a gracious and well spoken host during my stay. Each time we met, her demeanor was warm yet extremely professional. The rest of the staff were so very helpful in every aspect of the stay. They were kind enough to fill out all the forms for shipping my luggage to my next hotel in Hiroshima. The room was very well appointed, quiet, and very comfortable. The location is right in the middle of the city, with some excellent dining options but a few minutes walking distance. It was quite far from Shin-Osaka, but the city has an excellent transit system making it extremely easy to get around to various parts of the city. I didn’t expect to enjoy Osaka as much as I did!

Amazing location, there is a walkable distance to the food market, and Hitachi tower, and the surroundings. - The staff was very welcoming, very nice people. They already placed bath things, water, and a lot of hotel stuff to the room (as it usually happens), and there was a shelf in the corridor, where you could take anything additionally for free if it is needed. - The room was very comfortable, and I liked the Japanese style of the room with futons. Beds were very comfortable and large. - The WIFI worked great - The room had a lot of outlets, and even USB outlets to charge the devices, which was very convenient. - The hotel looks stylish

I had a lovely relaxing stay at Waqoo Shitaderamachi. I was there for 4 nights and was made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was the highlight. I choose to mainly eat plant-based food so it was perfect for me but even if you normally eat meat/diary but are happy to try something new I think you would enjoy the breakfast here. There were around 10/12 beautifully cooked and presented dishes each day and most of those dishes also changed day by day. The bedroom was large by Osaka standards and was quiet and comfortable. I would recommend without hesitation.
